Lund, Sweden
05.08.2006
I arrived in Sweden on June 25th, greeted by the lovely Swedish suprise, which much to my suprise actually had a bit of bite in it, although it doesn't compare to my Aussie summer, the days are long and the nights warm!
Lund, is a quiet place with a population of about 100,000 and a high student population. Bikes are the main mode of transport and are lined up all along the streets or in the many bike racks provided.
Lund is quiet this time of the year as all the students have gone home for the Uni break, so the pubs which are usually busy are quiet, nevertheless still good to enjoy a quiet beer in.
About 16km away is Malmo, Sweden's third largest city. It has many old buildings and beauitufl lush parks, and I would recommend to anyone in Lund needing a shopping fix to visit it's centre, as there are a lot more shops here!
I enjoyed the beach Ribersborg, and was suprised at how many Swedes ventured into the water, on what I deemed a day to crazily cold for swimming! the boardwalk is cool and it's nice to go for a stroll and look out at the bridge to Copenhagen and even catch a glimpse of Denmark on the horizon!
